The 2nd edition of the "Rural Housewives' Association Battle – The County on a Plate" competition is coming soon. This unique meeting, full of flavours, traditions, and healthy competition, will take place on 17 October 2026 at the PGE Turów Arena in Zgorzelec.
The special guest of this year's edition will be the renowned chef and culinary journalist Mateusz Gessler, which will certainly attract even more residents and fans of local cuisine to the event.
The Rural Housewives' Associations (KGW) will face several tasks that will allow them to showcase the full extent of their culinary and organizational talents:
preparing traditional baked goods,
presenting a main course with the potato as the central theme,
creating a unique table arrangement,
presenting the character of their Association through costumes, styling, and a pinch of their own creativity.
The organizers emphasize that this is much more than just a culinary competition. It is an opportunity to showcase talent and local traditions, promote their Association, meet other KGWs from the region, exchange experiences, and celebrate together what is best – the people, the tradition, and the flavours. Attractive prizes await the best teams.
Rural Housewives' Associations operating within the Zgorzelec County and registered in accordance with applicable regulations are invited to participate. Each Association may enter one team consisting of a maximum of 4 adult members.
The deadline for applications is 17 September 2026.
The application form is available on the Zgorzelec County Office website and at the office's headquarters. Completed applications can be sent electronically to promocja@powiat.zgorzelec.pl or delivered in person to the Zgorzelec County Office.

The organizers encourage all Rural Housewives' Associations from the region not to let their best recipes remain just a family secret. This is a perfect opportunity to show the whole county how uniquely the Zgorzelec region tastes.
