In August 1936, during his working trip through northeastern Bohemia, President Edvard Beneš visited Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou, and Železný Brod. The lecture will detail the course of this carefully planned visit, the speeches of the time, and unexpected complications, while also offering a comparison with Emperor Franz Joseph I's journey to the same region thirty years earlier.
