Charles Brauer and Uschi Brüning with a Jazz Trio – Christmas Memories of Manfred Krug
About this event
Acting legend Charles Brauer, leading German jazz singer Uschi Brüning, and an outstanding jazz trio pay tribute to the unforgettable Manfred Krug. Christmas songs, literary texts, and memories create an intimate Advent evening full of humor, nostalgia, and a festive atmosphere.
Actor Charles Brauer, one of the most prominent figures in German theater and television, and singer Uschi Brüning, winner of the 2025 German Jazz Prize, have joined forces for an extraordinary Advent program dedicated to the memory of Manfred Krug. The inspiration for this was his cult Christmas album, Der Weihnachts-Krug, which remains one of the most popular German Christmas music recordings to this day.
Uschi Brüning lends her unmistakable voice, full of emotion and jazz elegance, to well-known Christmas songs, while Charles Brauer recites Christmas stories and literary texts with the mastery of a seasoned actor and storyteller. Musical accompaniment is provided by three outstanding musicians—Wolfgang „Zicke“ Schneider (drums), Tom Götze (double bass), and Andreas Bicking (piano, saxophone)—who stood on stage alongside Manfred Krug for many years. Their sensitive interplay creates a delicate musical landscape between jazz, swing, and Christmas mood.
This is not a classic Christmas concert or a literary evening, but an exceptional meeting of music, words, and memories. The audience can look forward to an intimate Advent program full of humor, nostalgia, and quiet emotions, reminding us that Christmas is not just a time of tradition, but also of human stories.
