Walter Brandon Thomas This farce comedy by English author Brandon Thomas from 1892 has been performed on Czech stages for over a hundred years. The title belongs to the very best that the thousands-year-old history of dramatic works has to offer in the comedy genre. A piling series of comic situations, unique humor rooted in the best English traditions, and a light whiff of nostalgia are a reliable guarantee of quality entertainment that is sure to please every viewer. It is a somewhat mischievous comedy about two Oxford students, Charley and Jack, who are preparing to invite the girls of their hearts on a romantic date and ask for their hand in marriage. Period etiquette, however, requires the girls to be accompanied by a trusted chaperone. A rich aunt from Brazil is supposed to visit Charley, and the problem seems to be solved. But the aunt fails to arrive, and the young ladies are already on their way. A bizarre carousel of mix-ups, misunderstandings, and minor deceptions begins, resulting in an inexhaustible web of comic situations that go beyond believability and never cease to entertain the viewer until the very end. Thomas's text has already proven its timelessness and vitality many times, and we believe that this will all be confirmed in our new production, directed by the head of the DFXŠ artistic ensemble, Kateřina Dušková.
