About this event

Polish film “VIKA!” and disco with “Discoteca Tropical” by the poolside

The MEWA-Bad invites you on Friday, August 7, 2026, to a special cross-border film and dance evening. For the first time in the history of the “Kino am Beckenrand” event series, “VIKA!” will be shown as a Polish-language film with German subtitles. The event begins at 8:00 PM, and the film will start once it is dark enough.

Before the screening, guests can look forward to a German-Polish dance encounter, guided by Katharina Banczyk. Following the film, “Discoteca Tropical – Global sound for heart and hips” invites you to wind down the summer evening together.

An evening that connects people

With the documentary “VIKA!”, Kino am Beckenrand is making a statement for German-Polish neighborliness and cultural exchange. Polish fellow citizens in particular are warmly invited to experience this film together with German guests.

The film tells the story of 85-year-old DJ Vika, who is celebrated as an icon in Warsaw's clubs. For her, age is not a limit, but an invitation to constantly reshape life. With her music and unbridled zest for life, she inspires people of all ages to break free from societal expectations and follow their own path.

The German-Polish dance encounter before the film and the subsequent disco take up this idea and make the evening more than just a cinema experience: they create space for encounters, exchange, and celebrating together across national borders.

Kino am Beckenrand looks forward to seeing many visitors and to a summer evening full of film, music, and lived neighborliness. All events at Kino am Beckenrand are funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and take place free of charge.
