About this event

Two hundred cyclists from various corners of Europe will also pass through Liberec this year. From 1 PM, there is a program for families with children, between 4:45 PM and 5:15 PM the arrival of the cyclists, and from 6 PM an autograph session (Z. Štybar, J. Ježek, R. Šimůnek, P. Vejvodová).

On Friday, September 11, 2026, one of the stops on this international ride will be náměstí Dr. E. Beneše in Liberec. The afternoon will offer a program for the public, sports activities for children and adults, a presentation of local organizations, and a space for meeting. The highlight of the day will be the arrival of the peloton around 5 PM, followed by a debate with Czech cycling personalities Zdeněk Štybar, Jiří Ježek, Radomír Šimůnek, and Pavlína Vejvodová.

“At a time when society often looks for differences, through the European Peace Ride we want to show what unites us. Each stage brings new encounters, new friendships, and new stories. We are proud that one of the places on this common European journey will be Liberec this year,” says the founder of the European Peace Ride project, Kai Winkler.

The European Peace Ride builds on the legacy of the legendary Peace Race and today connects participants from several countries through cycling, an active lifestyle, and international cooperation. The project is growing annually, and its ambitions reach far beyond the borders of individual stages.

In 2027, the route will lead from Chemnitz through Prague and České Budějovice to Vienna. At the same time, the organizers are preparing a scenario under which the European Peace Ride could join the Grand Départ Tour de France program in the future. However, whether the start of the Tour de France will actually be entrusted to Germany is still being negotiated, and a final decision is expected at the beginning of 2027. In the event of a successful candidacy, the European Peace Ride could become part of the accompanying program in 2029 and ride the route of the first three stages of the world's most famous cycling race even before the arrival of the professional peloton.

The Liberec stop is therefore not just a one-day sporting event. It is part of a broader European story that connects regions, promotes a healthy lifestyle, active mobility, and international understanding through sports.

The event is free and open to all generations.
