Visit the only museum of military field veterinary kits in the Czech Republic and discover the history of not only Czechoslovak military cynology. Tours start at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Reservations are recommended. Tickets for the tours can also be purchased online.
The Veterinary Museum presents field veterinary kits originating from the equipment of the German, Soviet, and Czechoslovak armies from World War I to the 1950s. It is a unique and authentically preserved testament to the care of animals serving in military services.
On display, you can see, for example:
a kit for detecting and treating animals affected by chemical warfare agents
an anesthesia kit designed for putting service dogs to sleep
a model of a small horse used as an aid for teaching how to bridle and saddle a horse
a Czechoslovak kit for treating carrier pigeons
contemporary cynological equipment
Visitors will also learn about the current use of the so-called lower chateau at Grabštejn and its surroundings by the Czech Army. Those interested in the tour will also learn about the dramatic story of the Grabštejn war hero – the military dog Atos, who participated in a mission in the Logar province of Afghanistan.
