Gesprächsstoff(e) - An exhibition about the living conditions and experiences of queer people in Saxony
About this event
The traveling exhibition invites you to take a look at the world of LGBTIQ* communities in Saxony. It is based on the results of an extensive study on the lives of LGBTIQ* individuals in Saxony from 2022, published by the Saxon State Ministry for Justice and Democracy, Europe and Gender Equality. Behind all the figures and facts lie people with their very personal experiences and encounters in our society. They report on discrimination and disadvantages in various areas of society, but equally on support, acceptance, and recognition.
The fabrics used in this exhibition reflect the different realities of life and challenges that LGBTIQ* individuals face, for example during coming-out processes and identity formation. The variety of colors, patterns, and materials symbolizes the diversity of queer communities and at the same time their resilience and strength, which persists despite discrimination and exclusion. The daily struggle for recognition and equal rights is an appeal for a society in which every person, regardless of gender and sexuality, is seen and heard. State and civil society action can therefore enormously improve the realities of life for LGBTIQ* individuals in the Free State.
The exhibition can be viewed during the university library's opening hours.
Monday - Thursday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
The exhibition is a project of the LAG Queeres Netzwerk Sachsen, commissioned by the Saxon State Ministry for Justice and Democracy, Europe and Gender Equality.
