THE MAIDENS' WAR – The authors, producers, and participating actors state that The Maidens' War is the most successful and most performed of all theatrical plays in the Czech Republic. Its appeal lies primarily in the lightness of the genre, the hyperbole, the themes explored, and the cast. The author of the comedy is František Ringo Čech. He wrote it back in 1986, and the comedy has been performed ever since, with audiences continuing to attend. “I wrote The Maidens' War tailored for the Czech nation. It’s primarily about a style of humor familiar to them and the areas it touches upon, such as eroticism and politics. Moreover, it is a relaxing genre, within which we bring a feast of the most beautiful women our downtrodden homeland possesses. The success of The Maidens' War is evidenced by packed halls all over our republic,” says the author of this zany comedy based on ancient legends by Alois Jirásek.
