THE MAIDENS' WAR (DÍVČÍ VÁLKA) – The authors, producers, and participating actors state that The Maidens' War is the most successful and most performed play in the Czech Republic. Its appeal lies primarily in the lightness of the genre, the hyperbole, the themes used, and also the cast. The comedy was written by František Ringo Čech. He wrote it back in 1986, and the comedy has been playing ever since, with audiences still flocking to see it. "I wrote The Maidens' War tailored to the Czech nation. It is primarily about the style of humor close to them and the areas it touches upon, such as eroticism and politics. Moreover, it is a relaxing genre, in which we present a feast of the most beautiful women our downtrodden homeland has to offer. The success of The Maidens' War is evidenced by filled halls throughout our republic," says the author of the crazy comedy based on motifs of an old legend by Alois Jirásek.
