Concert featuring familiar melodies and dances
In October 2023, Olga Dribas, longtime pianist and study director at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, founded the Görlitzer Salonquartett to continue the long-standing tradition of coffee house and salon music in Upper Lusatia.
Together with cellist Leon Szostakowski, who has been active in this field for years, and the two young violinists Lucía López Borrego and Ekaterina Khoroshilova, they dedicate themselves to the inexhaustible repertoire of light entertainment music that defined the coffee houses and music salons of Vienna and all of Europe, especially in the 19th century. Famous composers like Johann Strauß, Franz Lehár, Robert Stolz, and many others paint the whole world azure when the sky is full of violins and the night is not just for sleeping! With waltzes, tangos, and Hungarian czardas, the four outstanding musicians delight the audience until they enthusiastically clap along to the classic Radetzky March at the end!
The Görlitzer Salonquartett invites well-known singers as guests who enrich the quartet's cozy concert afternoons—complete with coffee and cake—with popular hits and operetta melodies.
