A zany comedy from the theatrical world that is guaranteed to entertain.
The plot of the musical takes us to 1934, when a spectacular performance of Verdi's Othello is being prepared at an opera house in Cleveland, USA. World-renowned tenor Tito Merelli is set to perform the lead role, and everyone is eagerly awaiting his arrival. However, he has other worries, and the theatre director begins looking for a replacement. This comedy charmingly, lightheartedly, and above all with exaggeration, exposes the theatrical environment, operatic pretension, and the eccentric world of celebrities. The musical was composed by Brad Caroll, with the libretto and lyrics by Peter Sham, based on the original play by Ken Ludwig. The play has won 3 Tony Awards and 4 Drama Desk Awards.
