Mountains and Valleys

About this event

A dance between two landscapes.

Steep peaks and quiet valleys. Dynamics and meditation. The dance performance Mountains and Valleys is a unique movement dialogue between two landscapes and two inner worlds – the world of community and the world of solitude. It brings a dance statement of a divided person who is trying to reconnect with nature, tradition, and find a way back to their inner home. This authorial project by Scottish dancer and choreographer Lucy Macphail is being created within a platform supporting young artists. The double-bill metaphorically approaches the story of each one of us. Through contemporary dance theatre, it explores the energies we spend our whole lives trying to balance. Mountains embody vitality, rhythm, and the joy of sharing. Valleys, on the other hand, reveal tenderness, contemplation, and the beauty of slow flow – a space where emotional grounding can be found. The dancers are accompanied by a musical collage by Scottish artists, which supports the authenticity and cultural connection between the choreography and its inspiration. A theatre start-up project Bušení for emerging creative teams.
