Iva Bittová is considered one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Czech music. In a joint project with Duo Jedlinský–Fischer, she combines her unmistakable voice, violin, and spontaneous improvisation with sensitive chamber accompaniment. The concert will offer a unique musical dialogue on the border of folklore, jazz, classical music, and original composition.
Iva Bittová is one of the most distinctive personalities in Czech music. Over the decades, the singer, violinist, and composer has created an entirely personal musical language that connects Moravian folklore, classical music, jazz, and free improvisation. Thanks to her originality, she has performed at the world's most significant festivals and collaborated with a number of leading European and American musicians. Her work defies conventional genre categories and is appreciated both at home and abroad.
She will perform together with Duo Jedlinský–Fischer at the Mandava Jazz festival. This chamber collaboration is based on a dialogue between three distinct musical personalities, giving equal space to spontaneous improvisation as to carefully constructed musical structures. Delicate interplay, a feel for detail, and the courage to head in unexpected directions during the concert create an unrepeatable atmosphere, in which folk inspiration naturally blends with jazz freedom and chamber music culture. The result is a concert that will not stand on ostentation, but on an intense shared experience – music emerging here and now, in immediate contact between the performers and the audience.
