For Jana Machatová and Peter Machata, jewelry is a medium of participation, an artistic practice through which they have long explored the communicative, semantic, and identity-forming potential of contemporary art jewelry. Through the complex space of wearable brooches and pendants, inclined toward material-technological experimentation as well as the foundations of goldsmithing, they confront us (and themselves) with what we value, what we desire, and what we fear – in their lived, engaged, and fragmented pictorial scenarios, they lead a permanent and critical dialogue about the temporalities of memory and identity.
