Why I'm staying where you have to argue and roll up your sleeves together!
A plea against black-and-white thinking and for attempting to coexist when differences seem insurmountable. No easy answers, but an open-hearted and self-critical attempt to figure out what could still make a difference now.
After many years in Rostock, Monchi, singer of FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET, returns to the Western Pomerania province. When 54 percent of the votes in his birthplace, where he knows almost everyone, go to the AfD in the federal election, he can hardly believe it. Yet Monchi has long known: life here only works side-by-side and together, despite all the contrasts. The pub where the band plans their festival is also used for the AfD regulars' table. A black-white-red flag was hoisted on the property next to the rehearsal room. But all sorts of different people help out when a skate park is built for the youth. What fears do they have, what hopes? How can you manage to look optimistically into the future, despite everything? Monchi wants to stay where so many have already said goodbye, wants to make a difference locally. Hopefully, so he can grow old in the place he loves more than anywhere else.
