The Kammermusikfest Oberlausitz takes place every two years, alternating with the Oberlausitzer Kammermusikfestival (KMO Academy) under the artistic direction of violist Prof. Nils Mönkemeyer, in cooperation with the Carl Maria v. Weber College of Music Dresden and the Saxon Music Council. Within the KMO Academy, highly gifted young musicians have the opportunity to work on demanding chamber music literature under the guidance of renowned instructors. KMO Academy instructors work closely with music educators of students from the region and present the results to the public at the end of the Academic Days. At two closing concerts in the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz, teachers and students, professionals and amateurs will perform together so that the audience can experience the performers from the academic field in their training partnership. Graduates of the Academy for Chamber Music are welcomed into the alumni circle.
