About this event
Comedy / Sports Czech Republic / Slovakia, 2025, 127 min. The protagonist of the comedy Dream Team is the brash and eccentric basketball coach Marek (Martin Hofmann), who fails in his attempt to get his team into the second national league. He would prefer to quit coaching altogether. But his son Šimon (Martin Polišenský), who has an intellectual disability, dreams of one day playing basketball for the national team at the Paralympics. Marek, who loves his son, decides to make this dream come true for him. However, he hits a major problem. He can't seem to assemble a large enough team of suitable players who also meet Paralympic criteria. At that moment, his neighbor and failed theater director Daniel (Jakub Prachař) intervenes with a curious plan. It consists of helping him assemble a team of healthy basketball players who will pretend to have an intellectual disability. Daniel convinces Marek that this is their only chance to succeed and make it to the Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil. It is insanely unethical, but Marek is only thinking about making his Šimon happy. And so the basketball expedition full of fake disabled athletes soon heads in the direction of Rio. It is only under the hot Brazilian sun that Marek realizes what a huge mess he is getting into and that this "life curve" will be very hard to navigate.
