About this event
Lanugo is one of the most distinctive groups on the contemporary Czech alternative music scene.
The band was formed around singer and songwriter Markéta Foukalová and, since its inception, has been winning over listeners with its original fusion of jazz, folk, chanson, electronics, and modern songwriting.
Lanugo's work is characterized by poetic Czech lyrics, sensitive arrangements, and an unmistakable atmosphere that blends fragility with energy and emotion.
Lanugo performs regularly on club and festival stages and has released several critically acclaimed albums throughout its existence. Listeners can look forward to a concert full of musical color, strong melodies, and authentic expression, confirming the band's exceptional position on the Czech music scene.
The band consists of singer Markéta Foukalová, pianist and producer Viliam Béreš, guitarist Mirek Šmilauer, double bassist Rastislav Uhrík, drummer Martin Kopřiva, and percussionist Martin Novák.
The ensemble of experienced musicians combines elements of pop, jazz, electronics, and alternative music into a distinctive and atmospheric sound.
Lanugo is celebrating twenty years on the scene this year and, after seven years, is releasing a new double album, "Lanugo, 2026," which is being released independently on double vinyl. The concert associated with the launch took place on April 29th at Archa+ in Prague. The double album "Lanugo, 2026" is built on existential themes anchored in everyday life. On it, the group once again connects acoustics, electronics, an intimate atmosphere, and subtle musical invention—the elements through which they have built their own space on the domestic scene over the past two decades.
Lanugo offers music that appeals to both the heart and the imagination, leaving a lasting impression long after the final note. And we have experienced that many times already, whenever the band has visited us at Klub Na Rampě. A truly great experience.
