The epilogue of the twenty-fifth edition of the festival is something truly special and exceptional. Coming to provide the final touch to this year's program is Barbora Kabátková, who performed at Lípa Musica during the early stages of her artistic career. She now returns in a completely different role: as the artistic director and conductor of the renowned Collegium Vocale Gent.
Barbora Kabátková has been collaborating with the ensemble Collegium Vocale Gent as a singer since 2013, gradually earning the trust of its founder, Philippe Herreweghe. She rewards the ensemble's founder with the very best work, dedication to music, and strong, essential programs. The project she brings is a musical tribute to one of the greatest composers of the Renaissance, Josquin Desprez, and his spiritual pupil Jean Richafort, who reacted to Josquin's death with an impressive composition, Missa pro defunctis. The program premiered in Italy, and now Barbora Kabátková brings it home—she and one of the greatest vocal ensembles of the present day.
