Manaslu – Three Times and That's Enough?

Himalayan stand-up by Petr Jan Juračka and Honza „Tráva“ Trávníček.

One of the most experienced Czech Himalayan climbers. A naturalist, photographer, and beetle collector from the Elbe region. And between them, Manaslu (8163 m), a mountain that has already made it clear to them several times that reaching the summit is not a given.

Honza „Tráva“ Trávníček has six eight-thousanders under his belt, including K2 and Annapurna, most of them without supplementary oxygen. Petr Jan Juračka is a photographer, science communicator, and a man who went from university beetle collections to the foot of the world's highest mountains. Together, they have set out on several expeditions to places where oxygen, strength, and sensible ideas run low.

Manaslu twice. Helicopter twice. Broad Peak once with oxygen 'just for a test'. And finally, a third return to Manaslu – this time together and with oxygen on their backs. The expedition will take place in September 2026, and this show will be about how it all turned out — or didn't.

The result is a raw, funny, and unexpectedly human travel story about friendship, hypoxia, endless rice, coffee, and situations that one really couldn't make up at home with PowerPoint.

Don't expect a classic climbing lecture. This is a Himalayan stand-up from places where mistakes are not forgiven — but humor still works.

Petr Jan Juračka

Naturalist, photographer, traveler, and National Geographic ambassador. He works at the Faculty of Science at Charles University, where he focuses on long-term science popularization. He is the author of successful books Ze života fotografa, Ostrovy Atlantiku, and the award-winning book Něha Himálaje (Hanzelka and Zikmund Award). He also participated in several film projects, including a film that won a Student Academy Award.

Honza „Tráva“ Trávníček

One of the most prominent Czech Himalayan climbers. He has six eight-thousanders and dozens of expeditions around the world under his belt. He is a co-founder of the Czech Pub in Kathmandu, a guide to Nepal, and a popular storyteller who can combine extreme mountain experiences with humor, perspective, and authentic stories from places most people will never see.
