About this event

Operetta in a prelude and three acts by Gerd Natschinski

Imagine this: you have an incompetent and uncreative boss who is only concerned with his authority, and nothing else. Perhaps you don't even need to imagine it, because you encounter such a specimen every day in your own job ...

The title heroine of Gerd Natschinski's operetta Messeschlager Gisela is certainly familiar with the topic. She is the up-and-coming fashion designer for VEB Berliner Schick, but her superior, Robert Kuckuck, thinks he runs the whole place himself – whenever he actually shows up at work. For this reason, her colleagues want to present Gisela's latest designs at the Leipzig Trade Fair. But Kuckuck is throwing a wrench in the works again: it is not Gisela's collection that should go to Leipzig, but his own. However, he hasn't reckoned with the sensation-hungry journalist Fred Funke. Not only has he snuck into the company as a transport worker for research purposes, he has also set his sights on Gisela. When he introduced himself to her as a journalist, he was clearly given the cold shoulder.
But as a hands-on transport worker, he thinks he has a real chance to win her heart. Things get dicey when Funke's incognito status threatens to be blown. Find out what roles a misplaced bouquet of roses, a bowler hat, and original Saxon Plinsen play, starting June 12th against the impressive backdrop of the Alter Schlachthof Görlitz in Gerd Natschinski's hit operetta, packed with catchy tunes.
