From Mother Goddess to Our Lady of the Herbs

We invite you to a unique From Mother Goddess to Our Lady of the Herbs - workshop dedicated to ancient beliefs, symbolism, and traditions related to the end of summer and harvest celebrations. The workshop will take place on August 20th at 5:00 PM and will be led by Malwina Niczyporuk from our Regional Center for Ecological Education in Lubań.

During the meeting, we will examine the connections between the cult of the Great Mother Goddess among the ancient Slavic peoples of Central and Eastern Europe and the later cult of Our Lady of the Herbs (Matka Boska Zielna). We will talk about the symbolism of fertility, harvest, care for the earth, and the cyclical nature of nature, as well as agrarian thanksgiving rituals for the first harvests and the fruits of human labor.

Program includes:
- a story about ancient rituals and their transformations,
- a reconstruction of the symbolic ritual of offering gifts of the earth to the Mother Goddess,
- creating natural incense from native herbs,
- rituals of cleansing people, homes, and animals at the turn of the seasons,
- ethnographic traces of ancient beliefs preserved in folk tradition and the feast of Our Lady of the Herbs.
We invite everyone interested in traditional culture, ancient spirituality, ethnography, and the living heritage of Slavic rituals.
