Film screening followed by a discussion
Director Anders Skovbjerg Jepsen documents the years-long process of coming to terms with the trauma inflicted on him in his youth by his childhood friend Peter, who sexually abused him. Years later, as an adult, he reaches out to Peter and attempts to arrange a formal meeting to open up a dialogue about their past, but this proves more difficult than it initially seems. Home videos, personal anecdotes and moments with his loved ones paint a comprehensive picture of Anders’s understanding of his relationships. Towards the end, the monstrous image of Peter that Anders has internalised is tamed, as the past seems more tangible during their meetings. Despite the weight of confronting these memories, Anders looks forward to being able to move on.
