We invite you to the vernissage of the exhibition at our FOG photo gallery on Thursday, August 13th, from 6 p.m.
Humans are naturally surrounded by the environment in which they live. It can be assumed that the quality and character of this environment plays an important role in developing a person's personality, their cultivation, and the creation of their cultural background, which ultimately has a significant influence on the level of society as a whole. This photographic series focuses on capturing unique portraits of people living in the Prague district of Podolí today, and especially their natural living space, the urban landscape of Podolí. The landscape forms the backdrop, but is also a significant part of the lives of the district's residents. From the perspective of time, it can be perceived as much more essential and permanent than the existence of any specific person within it. Behind these figures, illuminated by strobe light, we can imagine almost anyone...
Jan Dytrych (1980) deals mainly with personal and social themes in his photography. He most often processes these in the form of subjective documentary, staged photography, or intermedia work. He studied at the Institute of Creative Photography of the Silesian University in Opava. In addition to photography, he is also involved in creative writing; his texts have been featured on the website nedelnichvilkapoezie.cz or at the Smetanova poetická Litomyšl festival.
