Exhibition: UNEXPECTED AMBER
About this event
Even in the year of its 140th anniversary, the Museum of the Bohemian Paradise confirms its position as a European centre for jewelry, bringing to the Czech public a unique collection of contemporary amber jewelry originally assembled for the exhibition Unexpected Amber: Strong Feelings, which took place from 26 September 2025 to 19 April 2026 at the Amber Museum in the Lithuanian seaside resort of Palanga. The collection consists of around 90 pieces of jewelry by twenty renowned artists from nine countries who work in unconventional ways with amber—an attractive and traditional material that refers to ancient European and Lithuanian myths and legends. The exhibition brought together artists who have used amber in their work for a long time with jewelers who had not previously worked with this material. The collection also includes brand-new works being presented for the first time. The exhibition's concept was created by Heidemarie Herb, a German jeweler living in Italy, who joined forces for this second project of its kind with Jurgita Ludavičienė, head curator of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art.
