Vernissage of the Tomasz Jakub Sysło exhibition 'I See You. I Feel You'
About this event
Is it possible to tell a story about intimacy using color, line, humor, and imagination?
Tomasz Jakub Sysło proves that it is definitely possible.
Join us on September 30th for the vernissage of the exhibition 'I See You. I Feel You' – featuring paintings and drawings by the Wrocław-based artist, whose family history reaches back to Lubań.
It will be about the human being – about meetings, relationships, the need for intimacy, tenderness, being noticed, and what happens between us. But without excessive seriousness. In the works of Tomasz Jakub Sysło, there is a lot of color, movement, spontaneity, and a sense of humor. There are paintings, there are drawings, and there are words that sometimes state directly what we cannot say ourselves.

And that's not the end!
After the vernissage, we invite you to the Galeria Sztuki Przestrzeń at ul. Zgorzelecka 18 (basement) for the second part of the exhibition. This time it will be slightly humorous, tongue-in-cheek, and definitely for adult audiences.
One exhibition. Two locations. Two parts.
And only 400 meters between them.
Free admission to both events.
Come to see, feel, and find out where Tomasz Jakub Sysło will lead us this time.
See you on September 30th!
In the work of Tomasz Jakub Sysło, the human being remains at the center of the story. For years, the artist has been examining relationships, intimacy, the need for the presence of another person, and what happens between people. The exhibition 'I See You. I Feel You' leads us precisely into this space – between looking and feeling, between one's own experience and the presence of another person.
Through art, Tomasz Jakub Sysło tells stories about life. Everyday life, with its weight and ordinariness, is passed by him through color, humor, and imagination. A light world is created, full of movement and meetings. The figures often seem to float as if the laws of physics were giving way to emotions. Their simplified form retains a childlike directness while simultaneously allowing for speaking about very adult matters: intimacy, the need to be noticed, tenderness, and loneliness.
In the world presented by Tomasz Jakub Sysło, there is also a place for a man – sensitive, tender, needing intimacy. The artist allows him to speak about emotions and does not hide his need for contact with another person. The affirmations appearing in the works become simple messages: you can be strong and sensitive at the same time, you can speak about feelings, you can need another person.
The exhibition was conceived as a space of mutual interaction. When we enter the gallery, we are surrounded by works, but the 'Crowd of People' installation reverses this situation. It is we who begin to circle the works. The circle becomes a sign of community, harmony, and continuity. The movement of the viewer becomes part of the movement of the entire exhibition. The paintings meet each other, and a human being appears between them.
In this way, the relationship ceases to be solely a subject depicted on canvas. It becomes part of the exhibition experience itself.
The character of the works on paper brings to mind pages torn from a diary or sketchbook – quick records of thoughts, observations, and emotions. The words that appear can sound like sentences we would like to say to someone close, someone passed in a hurry, or like notes pinned to the fridge. They are a trace of a moment, an attempt to capture something that is easy to overlook in the daily rush.
Paper folds, stains, smudges, and traces of the process become seals confirming their authenticity.
In the works of Tomasz Jakub Sysło, affirmations also appear. Their presence can be read as an attempt to name what often remains unsaid. Of particular interest are the messages directed towards masculinity – opening it up to emotions, tenderness, and the right to experience them.
'I See You. I Feel You' is an exhibition about presence. About the need to notice another human being. About the intimacy we seek in everyday life.
You will find the continuation of the 'I See You. I Feel You' exhibition at the Galeria Sztuki Przestrzeń, Lubań, ul. Zgorzelecka 18 – just 400 meters from the Muzeum Regionalne w Lubaniu.
The subject is treated with a tongue-in-cheek attitude and a sense of humor. One work. One protagonist.
Because a feeling is also feeling.
'Earthworm' by Tomasz Jakub Sysło is a humorous commentary on the exhibition, aimed at an adult audience. It is another way to speak about intimacy, contact, and physicality – this time with a bit of humor and without excessive seriousness.
