The Liberec Region is known primarily for its nature, mountains, and historic towns. An equally valuable part of its cultural wealth, however, consists of its historic churches and their organs – instruments that have accompanied the spiritual and cultural life of the region for centuries. Many are masterpieces of Czech and European organ-building, representing significant cultural heritage with a value that far exceeds the borders of individual municipalities.

The new concert project A Journey to the Organ Gems of the Liberec Region aims to introduce this wealth to the general public. Each concert will take place in a different sanctuary, connecting music with stories about the history of the place, its architecture, and the organs themselves. In addition to instruments that have undergone sensitive restoration, the project will also highlight organs whose rescue is still waiting for an opportunity.

The musical side of the project will be ensured by renowned performers. Along with Kateřina Málková, violinist Tereza Horáková, opera singer Josef Kovačič, and historian, publicist, and singer Jiří Bartoloměj Sturz will perform, guiding listeners through the history of individual churches, their cultural significance, and the stories of the organ instruments.

The dramaturgy of the concerts respects the character of each church, its dedication, and the liturgical period. Works of the Czech and European Baroque, sacred music, and compositions preserved only in historical archives that have only been returned to concert life in recent years will be performed.

The project thus offers more than just a concert experience. The music becomes a means for discovering the cultural memory of the region, its history, and its unique genius loci. Each concert represents a stop on the journey to discovering the musical, historical, and spiritual heritage of the Liberec Region.

The concert cycle is organized by the Opus Organum association, which has long been dedicated to the promotion of organ music, the care of historical organs, and the popularization of Czech musical cultural heritage.
