Hannes (Sebastian Bezzel) has everything he could possibly need to be happy: a loving family, a house in the countryside, and a solid career as a writer. While his bestseller years are over, Hannes takes it all in stride – he simply enjoys being a husband and father. His family, however, sees things differently: his wife Sara (Anna Schudt) and children Carla (Kya-Celina Barucki) and Nick (Philip Müller) are increasingly annoyed by his overzealous care and his pronouncements of old-school wisdom. And then everything comes crashing down: the publisher discontinues his novel series, Nick's chances of passing his A-levels look bleak, and Carla decides to move out. When his wife Sara finally decides she needs a break from marriage and starts a shared apartment with their daughter Carla, Hannes's comfortable world is turned upside down. He gives up – until he meets Vanessa (Judith Bohle). Will she be the one to finally kick Hannes out of his comfort zone?
