Former Site of the Zittau Synagogue

Until the Kristallnacht in 1938, the Zittau Synagogue stood in the courtyard of the house at Lessingstraße 12. Today, a commemorative plaque can be found on the building facing the street. Every year on November 9th, an official commemoration ceremony takes place here as part of the Day of Reflection for Democracy and Peace.
