Come to HAUS DER TAUSEND TEICHE (House of a Thousand Ponds) Visitor Information Centre in Wartha to experience an interactive exhibition that showcases the unique landscape of the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Region. Bringing the biosphere reserve to life, it sheds light on the vital conservation work done here and the harmony between humans and nature, with special attention to centuries of pond-farming tradition.

Before exploring the permanent exhibition, a short film provides a wonderful introduction to the reserve. From there, you will embark on a journey through the four seasons alongside local fisherman Klaus. Together with the giant aquarium filled with native fish species, the exhibition's top highlights include a discovery laboratory—where microscopes reveal the hidden world of local flora and fauna—and the traditional "Carp Kitchen", where you can discover exactly how to prepare the classic regional delicacy, "Blue Carp".
