About this venue
Wysoki Kamień/Hochstein (1058 m) is a striking peak on the Polish side of the Jizera Mountains (Góry Izerskie) near Szklarska Poręba. The rocky summit boasts one of the finest panoramic views in the region, looking out over the Karkonosze, Jizera, and Rudawy Janowickie mountains. There is a small kiosk serving refreshments at the top, with plans in place to improve facilities for tourists. Well-marked trails lead to the peak from both the Polish and Czech sides of the mountains.
Wysoki Kamień is one of the most scenic viewpoints in the Polish Jizera Mountains, making it the perfect destination when you want to combine some time in the great outdoors and sweeping views. The summit rewards visitors with wide panoramas across parts of the Karkonosze Mountains, the Rudawy Janowickie Mountains, and the foothills of the Jizera Mountains, making it a great spot for photographers. The walk to the top follows clearly-marked trails and is manageable for most visitors - there is one steeper section, but the view from the summit is well worth the effort. Hikers can then relax and take a seat at the small refreshment kiosk. Wysoki Kamień is also a simple addition to longer treks, an excellent stopover point along routes through the Polish side of the mountains.
