Chateau Liberec

The chateau is one of the very first brick-and-stone buildings in Liberec. It was built between 1582 and 1587 by brothers Christopher and Melchior of Redern, the rulers of the Frýdlant estate at the time, to replace an older manor house on the site. According to the earliest known illustration from the late 17th century—preserved on the lid of a glass goblet—it was originally a relatively simple Renaissance building.
