About this venue

The town of Raspenava (German: Raspenau) is nestled in the Frýdlant Hook, in the Liberec district in the far north of the Czech Republic. It sits within the Frýdlant Hills, the north-western foothills of the Jizera Mountains, roughly 3 to 6 km south-east of Frýdlant. The town's cadastral area covers 41.2 km², with a population of 2,770 as of 1 January 2024. Several waterways run through the town, including the Smědá and Lomnice rivers, together with the Sloupský, Libverdský, Pekelský, and Holubí streams. Elevation across the cadastral area ranges from 320 to 800 metres above sea level. The name of the town means "village on Rasp's (or Raspo's) floodplain", derived from an original German knightly name. The town has both a kindergarten and a primary school.
