Site of the former residence of Annemarie Schierz

At the address Crostwitzer Straße 17 in Horka, the residence of Annemarie Schierz (Hana Šěrcec) once stood. The Catholic Sorb of Jewish descent was arrested by the Nazi regime in 1942 and murdered the following year. Today, a stolperstein in front of the property commemorates her tragic fate. This memorial stone is unique as it is the only one in the world written exclusively in the Sorbian language.
