Eine Krankheit wie ein Gedicht
About this event
Drug-induced, chronic, schizoaffective psychosis of the manic type, polytox type, not morphine type - that is my father's diagnosis. Translated, this means he repeatedly experiences the same cycle: he falls into drug-induced psychoses, gets sobered up in psychiatric wards, and then sinks into depressive shame. During these psychoses, he is unpredictable and openly acts out his violence against the people around him - including my mother and me. However, to me, he is not just a perpetrator whose actions I deeply condemn, but also a human being whom I love and an artist whom I admire. He has immortalized and documented his psychoses and inner worlds in photographs, paintings, and sculptures. He is fighting against himself, his illness, and the system. And I am by his side.
