Join a guided tour through today's cultural forum and marvel at the architecture and interior of the synagogue, which is one of the few in Germany to have survived the 1938 pogrom night.
The former New Synagogue in the center of Görlitz bears witness to the proud Jewish community of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Dresden architects William Lossow and Hans Max Kühne - known for the Leipzig main train station - designed the magnificent domed building. The New Synagogue was inaugurated in March 1911. The building survived the 1938 pogrom night with comparatively little damage. However, Jewish life in the city was extinguished. After extensive renovation, the building was reopened in the summer of 2021 as the Görlitz Synagogue Cultural Forum.
