When the doors of the Kirche zum Heiligen Kreuz open on Reformation Day, Zittau will once again be dedicated to Andreas Hammerschmidt. The Hammerschmidt Honor 2026 invites you to a special celebratory concert, commemorating one of the most important composers of the German Baroque.
This year, the renowned ensemble Madrigalion Praga, under the direction of Čeněk Svoboda, will be performing as an outstanding ensemble of historical performance practice. The tenor and choir director, originally from Liberec, has dedicated himself for many years to the music of the Renaissance and Baroque and collaborates with well-known European ensembles. With Madrigalion Praga, he founded an ensemble specifically committed to the authentic interpretation of this era.
Look forward to an atmospheric concert evening featuring impressive voices, historical sound culture, and the unique atmosphere of the Kirche zum Heiligen Kreuz – the very place where the music of Andreas Hammerschmidt remains alive today.
