Helene Weigel - Revolutionärin im Rampenlicht

The cinema documentary about the woman of the century Helene Weigel is a multi-layered approach to the extraordinary political artist, anti-fascist, acting icon, and founder of the Berliner Ensemble. The film attempts to bring Weigel out of the shadow of Bertolt Brecht and rediscover her as a driving force in their groundbreaking artistic symbiosis. At the center are the discarding of bourgeois conventions and the search for new paths – in art, in politics, and in private life.
