About this event

2nd Chamber Music Concert featuring string sextets by Brahms and Schönberg

Music has always offered space not only for fantasies but also for unlived dreams and longings. In his second string sextet, Brahms bids farewell to his near-fiancée Agathe von Siebold. Previously, true to his motto "Free, but lonely," he had avoided such a union.
Experience how the bond of love between two people can be stronger than the seemingly immutable social norms of the time in Schönberg's sextet "Verklärte Nacht" (Transfigured Night) – late Romantic program music based on the poem of the same name by Richard Dehmel
