Glass in Nature, Nature in Glass

The exhibition Glass in Nature, Nature in Glass presents a remarkably diverse cross-section of contemporary glass art. It offers visitors the opportunity to discover glass in its full technical and artistic breadth within the context of the unique space of one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Czech Republic. The main stars of the show will be significant personalities of Czech glass art, Miluše and René Roubíček, whose work fundamentally influenced the form of modern designer glass and continues to inspire subsequent generations of artists today. Along with the Roubíčeks, a total of 25 artists will be presented in the garden's greenhouses.

Visitors will encounter diverse technologies and approaches to glass processing – from furnace-worked, cut, engraved, painted, and slumped glass, through vitrography and lampworked glass, to glass sculptures, objects, mosaics, light installations, and experimental designer creations. The exhibition thus offers a fascinating view of technical virtuosity, creative freedom, and the infinite possibilities of glass as a material that can be simultaneously fragile and monumental, traditional and surprisingly contemporary.
