We cordially invite you on October 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM to the Public Library in Bogatynia for a meeting with Sławek Gortych – the author of the bestselling Karkonosze Crime Series.
Over a million copies sold is the best proof of the popularity his novels enjoy. He is a great lover of the mountains and the author of the blog "Zagubiony w Karkonoszach" ("Lost in the Karkonosze Mountains"). In his books, he combines dark criminal mysteries with the real, often painful history of the Karkonosze Mountains and their inhabitants.
His debut novel "Schronisko, które przestało istnieć" ("The Shelter That Ceased to Exist") won the title of Book of the Year 2022 in the Debut category in a reader poll organized by the Lubimyczytać.pl. website. A year later, the sequel, "Schronisko, które przetrwało" ("The Shelter That Survived"), became Book of the Year 2023 in the Crime, Suspense, Thriller category. This success was also repeated by the third volume — "Schronisko, które spowijał mrok" ("The Shelter Enveloped in Darkness"), which received the most votes in the history of this poll.
The three volumes of the Karkonosze Crime Series were also recognized during the Mountain Literature Festival in Lądek-Zdrój, receiving the title of Best Mountain Book of the Year in 2023 and 2024.
The author also received the Karkonosze Literary Award for outstanding achievements in the literature and culture of Silesia and for activities promoting humanism and Polish-German understanding.
Due to high interest in the meeting, free admission tickets are required, which can be picked up at the Adult Department starting from September 23, 2026.
One person may collect a maximum of two tickets. Seating is limited!
