Attention hiking enthusiasts: Once again this year, we – together with the municipality of Großschönau – invite you to Oberlausitz Day on August 23, 2026!
The plan is again a hike to the summit of Lausche with the subsequent attachment of a large Herrnhuter Stern in the colors of Oberlausitz to the viewing platform.
You again have two options to participate in the hike:
- Meet at 9:30 AM at the Naturparkhaus Zittauer Gebirge for a guided hike with a nature park guide to the summit (Hauptstraße 28, 02799 Großschönau OT Waltersdorf) / the hike with the nature park guide costs 7 euros per person / to participate in the guided hike, please register by August 19, 2026, by phone: 035841/2146 or by email at touristinfo@grossschoenau.de
- OR: Meet at 11:00 AM at the Hubertusbaude (An d. Lausche 4, 02799 Großschönau OT Waltersdorf) for a joint hike to the summit (free of charge, no registration required)
Both hiking groups will meet at the summit for the attachment of the Herrnhuter Stern. There will be musical accompaniment by the Jagdhornbläsergruppe Oberlausitz and the Oberlausitzer Alphorn Quartett.
In addition, we are looking for school children who would like to carry a large star spike up the mountain during the ascent. If interested, please contact: touristinfo@grossschoenau.de
From 2:00 PM, a colorful family afternoon will take place at the Naturparkhaus Zittauer Gebirge.
Arrival information:
The last public parking lot is located in Waltersdorf (b ZI), entrance at Windgasse.
By public transport, you can reach the stop Waltersdorf (b ZI) with lines 14 and 15.
