The theatrical adaptation of the beloved Czech fairy tale Three Veterans is full of humor, exaggeration, and great acting performances. The amazing fairy tale by Jan Werich, perhaps the most famous one from his charming book Fimfárum, comes to life on stage with all the favorite songs by the duo Zdeněk Svěrák and Jaroslav Uhlíř. The story is perfectly well-known - a trio of military retirees manages to use three magical gifts from kind elves – a harmonica, a hat, and a purse – to correct a greedy princess, and also to discover what true human happiness is. In short, it is a fairy tale not only for children about courage, human stupidity, and true human happiness, which is often within reach. Artilleryman Pankrác, dragoon Bimbác, and military cook Servác are penniless after being discharged from the army. From kind-hearted elves, they receive magical gifts: a harmonica that creates soldiers, servants, and other useful helpers; a top hat that conjures up whatever one thinks of; and a bottomless purse full of gold coins. With these gifts, they wander the world until they reach the kingdom of Monte Albo. Thus begins the story we know well – and yet look forward to again and again.
