Lecture "Stories of prisoners behind the wire of the Saxon subcamps of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp" (registration required at museum@zittau.de)

On September 22 at 5 PM, Renata Paluch, Head of the Education Department at the Gross-Rosen Museum in Rogoźnica, will give a lecture on "Stories of prisoners behind the wire of the Saxon subcamps of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp." The lecture provides an overview of the prisoner society in the twelve Saxon subcamps of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp. Based on surviving witness statements and interrogation protocols, the fates of people who experienced the reality of the Nazi camp system firsthand will be illuminated.

Another focus of the lecture is personal testimonies preserved in literature and art – records of individual experiences and emotions that offer insight into the camp's history from the perspective of direct witnesses.

The event also offers the opportunity to reflect on the role of contemporary witnesses in the process of commemorating the victims of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp in Saxony.
