Görlitz City Centre, Obermarkt

Obermarkt is one of the biggest and most beautiful historic squares in central Görlitz, acting as a kind of gateway to the Old Town. Its skyline is dominated by the Church of the Holy Trinity (Dreifaltigkeitskirche) and a row of grand townhouses with Renaissance and Baroque façades, once home to wealthy cloth merchants. The square is still a lively hub where markets and cultural events are held, and its beautifully preserved historic atmosphere has made it a firm favourite with Hollywood film-makers.
