About this venue

At Zoo Görlitz, 700 animals from 90 different species live in naturalistic enclosures designed with great attention to detail. Special emphasis is placed on both high-quality animal husbandry and visitor comfort. The zoo is actively committed to nature conservation and the preservation of endangered wild and farm animal breeds. At the same time, it offers something truly special – direct encounters with the animals and unforgettable experiences.

Many enclosures are designed to allow visitors direct contact with the animals – including ibexes, deer, and camels.

Have you ever brushed goats or fed porcupines? Have you looked deep into a camel's eyes? Have you ever sat on a bench among squirrels and parrots, listening to the sound of the waterfall? Have you watched a vulture's nest from the explorer's cave or fed chicks with grated carrots? Have you ever had a picnic with turkeys? Or perhaps you have looked directly into an otter's mouth while it ate its food? At Zoo Görlitz, all this is possible.

Enclosures with platforms and panoramic windows allow for exciting observations. The kangaroo enclosure is also well worth seeing, featuring a themed playground, a trampoline, and a giant kangaroo you can climb inside the pouch of. Furthermore, it is home to Europe's only Tibetan village, where animals, nature, architecture, and Buddhist culture are presented in an authentic way.

The Discovery Barn with its indoor playground and adjacent play areas provide lots of fun and playfully address important topics like globalization and sustainability. These can be experienced on the UNESCO-awarded "Milky Way" playground, among others.

The "Korytkowo" bar, operated by Zoo Görlitz, offers food prepared according to sustainability principles. You can enjoy these on the viewing terrace among the treetops. It makes for a culinary finale to a visit at Zoo Görlitz.
