Erwin Wurm | One Minute Forever

In line with its long-term development concept, the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Liberec (Galerie Lázně Liberec) will present one of the most significant contemporary artists from Central Europe: the Austrian sculptor and conceptual artist Erwin Wurm.

Erwin Wurm is known for his unflagging sense of humor and perfectly crafted sarcasm, which is reflected throughout his work, whether in the unnaturally bloated cars from his "Fat Cars" series, the claustrophobic "Narrow House," or the figures of materialized spirits in "Substitutes." In his works, he very sophisticatedly critiques the false ideals of today's society—its utilitarianism, formalism, and fondness for kitsch—and forces the viewer to reflect on the stereotypical conventions we often accept thoughtlessly.
