About this event

From July 29 to August 16, 2026, the 17th Lausitzer Musiksommer will take place. Under the theme »Weitergehen / Pokročować«, you can experience 12 events over 9 event days in various locations in Upper Lusatia, where varied musical experiences with selected artists await you. Experience the dimensions of music, the landscape, and the culture of Upper Lusatia with the Lausitzer Musiksommer. The Lausitzer Musiksommer 2026 was curated by Hans Narva.

The afternoon begins not in a concert hall, but outdoors. During a guided tour through the "Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape," visitors will get to know a cultural landscape that has been shaped for centuries by the interaction of people and nature. Ponds, dams, paths, and watercourses tell the story of a region that belongs to one of the most unusual landscapes in Germany.

Afterwards, the Rastrelli Cello Quartett takes over. For more than two decades, the ensemble has been one of the most original formations in the international chamber music scene. A surprisingly versatile sound body is created from four cellos, effortlessly switching between classical music, folk, tango, rock, and jazz. Works by Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff are just as naturally on the program as Georgian folk music, Led Zeppelin, or the Rolling Stones. The result is not a classical chamber concert, but an evening full of musical discoveries.
