History/Stories of the Görlitz Synagogue in Polish

This tour takes place in Polish: Join us for a walk through the current cultural forum and marvel at the architecture and interior of the synagogue, which is one of the few in Germany to have survived the 1938 pogrom night.

The former New Synagogue in the center of Görlitz is a testament to the proud Jewish community of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Dresden-based architects William Lossow and Hans Max Kühne—known for the Leipzig Central Station—designed the magnificent domed building. The New Synagogue was inaugurated in March 1911. The building survived the 1938 pogrom night with comparatively little damage. However, Jewish life in the city was extinguished. Following extensive renovation, the building reopened in the summer of 2021 as the Kulturforum Görlitzer Synagoge. The tour takes place in Polish.
